Founded by Karol Kaniuk in 2011 & joined by (his brother) Lech Kaniuk (CEO) in 2018, Sweden & Poland-based SunRoof builds “whole roof surface” solar panels/ tiles (not unlike Tesla’s famed “Solar Roof”). SunRoof claims its “solar tiles” are cheaper, as they use fewer materials/ resources (vs. traditional PV panels), with an aesthetic design that pleases customers. The SunRoof system also comes with energy storage & a digital platform where SunRoof customers can track every stage of their roof’s construction (from design to build to delivery) & once operational, a complete oversight of their energy production & consumption via an app. The new funding extension (fresh off the heel of a first closing in 2022) follows a year of significant 300% yoy revenue growth for the company (the team has also grown 13x since January 2020 to more than 150 people Europe-wide). SunRoof has customers in Sweden, Germany, and Poland, along with pilots in the US. The firm will use the new funding to continue to “grow & consolidate its leading position in existing markets”. <Source: brutkasten.com & eu-startups.com>
