Netherlands-based CarbonOro is developing carbon capture technology, expected to reduce cost by enabling the desorption/ separation of carbon dioxide (through a proprietary amine solvent) from industrial exhaust/ flue gas, at lower temperatures & higher pressures than conventional technologies (& with a wider application field). The new funds will be used to deliver three industrial pilots with clients in waste-to-energy, the steel industry & a brick manufacturer. Moreover, CarbonOro can boast to be one of the first startups to also receive financial support from members of the Global Cement & Concrete Association. Pieter Verberne (CTO) started CarbonOro in 2013, with co-founders Jan Hoppenbrouwers (CRO) & Roger Meertens (CEO) joining in 2019. Other startups in the space include e.g. Aqualung (NW) (<€10m). <Source: siliconcanals.com, offshore-energy.biz, businesswire.com>
